BOGLES VILLAGE
is a small, traditional,
West Indian village of about 300 people situated on the Leeward side of
the island.
Village life goes on much the same as it has for years, and although
fishing has declined and commercial foods are readily available, boats,
the sea and subsistence farming still play a major role. The people are
extremely warm and friendly, and life is generally "laid back". There
are three rum shops in the village which stock a good selection of basic
provisions and which become the centre of village social life in the
evenings. The village has two taxis which sometime work and buses which
run regularly into Hillsborough. There are also vehicles and bicycles
available for hire, either by the day or the week, should you want them,
although we would personally recommend travelling by bus or by foot if
you really want to taste and feel the island way of life.
Nestled in the
tiny rustic village of Bogles on the north west coast, these three
cottages are fully self contained and only a few feet from the beach,
each sleeping 2-3 people.
Well off the normal tourist track and yet only two minutes from the bus
stops.
This is the Caribbean side of the island so swimming and
snorkelling are excellent.
